A woman has had her womb removed; she only has cervix so not meant to have any period. However, she sees blood every month when she wipes. This lasts 5-7 days every month. Will it be counted as a period?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Haidh (menstruation/period) is the blood that comes from a uterus (also called the womb). Any bleeding that occurs after the removal of the uterus will be considered to be Istihādah (dysfunctional uterine/vaginal bleeding). Therefore, in this case, the rulings of Istihādah will apply.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best.

[Al Hindiyyah, 1/190]

[Rad Al-Muhtar, 2/245, Farfur]

[Manhal Al-Waaridin, 122, Dar Al-Fikr]
