Question: Will the Ihram guidelines & prohibitions apply as soon as I wear the Ihram clothing?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

The Ihram prohibitions will apply only once one says the Talbiyah (or equivalent wording) with the intention of Umrah/Hajj. Merely wearing the clothes of Ihram does not result in the Ihram prohibitions applying.

قال ابن عابدين في رد المحتار (٢/٤٧٩) وابن نجيم في البحر الرائق (٢/٣٤٤) نقلا عن فتح القدير لابن الهمام (٢/٤٢٩): الإحرام شرعاً الدخول في حرمات مخصوصة أي التزامها غير أنه لا يتحقق شرعا إلا بالنية مع الذكر أو الخصوصية. انتهى. وهكذا قال منلا خسرو في درر الحكام (١/٢١٩). وقال مفتي سلمان منصورفوري في فتاويه المسمى كتاب النوازل (٧/٣٤٧): احرام؛ در اصل نیت اور تلبیہ (یا اس کے قائم مقام کوئی ذکر خداوندی) کے اجتماع سے عبارت ہے، یعنی حج یا عمرہ کی نیت کر کے تلبیہ پڑھ لینے سے احرام شروع ہو جاتا ہے، خاص کپڑوں یا ہیئت کا نام احرام نہیں ہے۔
